PAPER
Before making my decision, I had to look carefully at every starting point carefully so I wouldn't make the wrong decision because I didn't want to change it again. After reading every starting point carefully I made my decision and I choose PAPER. The reason why I choose paper is because I felt that it matched my style but also because I wanted to capture different angles from a paper that is folded and capture different sides of it for example from the top, side and the front .
My Ideas
I have different ideas and I am going to document all of ideas like taking some images on paper where half of the image is focused and half of it is unfocused. I would start by taking images of different types of paper for example coloured paper, printing paper and tracing paper. There are many places i can go to start taking images like the underground station, school, bus. I will also have a focus point so I can be able to keep track and document my plan. I will take varieties of images and then develop a final piece for my choosing subject.
Visit to Tate Modern
I went to the Tate Modern to look at some images most especially i wen to see Dora Maar exhibition. Her images were different to the other artists that i looked at. Her work and images were arranged in sections of years that they were made but also most of her work were black and white, some of her work were by her or were painted by her for example she was painted by Pablo Picasso. What really interests me about Dora Maar is that some of her images are abstract which really gives the viewer there on point of view. Before i started reading her response of her work I wanted to have my own point of view and also my own understanding of her work before reading her response to her work.
Ion Zupcu
Ion Zupcu is a fine art photographer who uses paper as one of his equipment to develop different ideas. I like Ion Zupcu work on papers because he uses different lighting to show different sides of a paper. He uses paper and turns them into different shapes like circles, triangle. Ion also use papers to make things like sunflower and American homes. I like Ion's work because they show me how useful paper are to make different objects.
These are Ion Zupscu work. I like the third one because it looks it is just a laser in the foreground but it is a paper. He uses the lighting to change the way the paper is seen as it confuses the viewer. The first and the second images are also good as well because he uses it tin black and white so the paper can mix well with the image. I also like the way he uses shape to convey his ideas in his image. The second image creates a bit of an illusion in my eyes as it is made with triangles on top of each other.
Aaron Siskind
Aaron Siskind work on paper are different to Ion Zupscu work although they have the same lighting they are both different. Aaron work on paper are quite fascinating because on some of his work I have seen it looks like he is using paper to make some sort of
My first photo shoot
This was my first photoshoot in relation to my chosen topic which was paper. I decided to make sculptures to put in a background using paper because I didn't want the background to be plain with nothing in it. I also decided to add a background because I wanted to add some colours to it, I also positioned the sculptures differently to create different objects.
Phootoshoots
This was my first photoshoot during the half term holidays. I tried using different papers like corrugated card, flashcards and tissue paper. When i was taking the images i wanted to have different types of paper not just one type of paper but varieties of paper. I made different objects using the paper then i placed some of the object in the same picture frame so that i could create different type of pieces. I would refine this by taking different types of places i see that papers have been used for example if I see a poster that has been torn apart, papers just on the floor or just papers with lots of cours.
This was my favourite image from the first photoshoot because of the composition of it but also the shadow behind it makes it look a lot like Ion Zupcu's work as he tends to use a lot shadow in his work on papers. I tried not to zoom in a lot on this image because i didn't want to make it look pixelated or out of focus. I wanted to have a focus point which was the middle because i wanted it to be balanced on the image frame.
Second Photoshoot
Thui was my second photoshoot, I focused on differnent aspects for example lines, composituon and the lighting. I looked at my first photoshoot and i decided that i need to make sure that some of my images must have lines in it that makes a shape because in Ion Zupcu work he tends to always make shapes with paper for example triangle, square.
This was my favourite image from my second photoshoot because it has shapes and lines. This image us quite abstract as it doesn't have a focus point. This relates to Ion Zupcu work and some of his work creates an illusion on the viewer. I think achieved one of my objective of creating a work that looks like Ion zupcu
Photoshoot using Lightbox
This was my second photoshoot. I decided to use a magnifying glass to magnify a part of the image so it looks unusual. I also used tracing paper because i didn't want to use normal paper. I also tried to position the paper.
Photoshopped Images
This are some of the images that i edited using photoshop. I wanted to edit some images because i thought some images were to basic and needed some refinement so i decided to use photoshop. My favourite out of all of the images is the first and the sixth image. I like the first one because of how it came out when i changed the gradient. I also like the sixth image because of the colour changes.
